London Arrival

My day began with a family trip to Brisbane city, Chels had made me an amazing scrapbook full of photos and messages for when I get home sick and that's when the tears began. My send off finally felt real!

We arrived at the airport, checked my luggage in, thankfully all my bags were under weight limit, 19kg, can't believe how heavy clothes are and yes I rolled! Then through my first security check, one of about a dozen to come, scanned for explosives, all good and on we went for my anxious departure. Lots of photos, hugs and tears later I was boarding, it took three planes to finally reach my destination.

From Sydney I flew over the Simpson Desert, past Indonesia, over India and had a quick stopover in Dubai, the airport is huge and the first leg of the flight took 13 hours. Then we flew over the Black Sea, Turkey, Austria, Germany then finally through the thick clouds of London, taking another 7 hours! I watched the plane land via the skycam on the back of the plane, which was pretty awesome, mind you anything was amusing after only a few hours sleep!

Got through Customs fairly quick and easily, collected my luggage and was met with a big hug and kiss from my cousin Bec and Mike. Couldn't believe I was on the other side of the world and was hanging out for a nice hot shower!

First day in London I was so excited to be here and the sights and sounds are so different, keep waiting to here the Lorikeets and smell the wattle, instead there are gorgeous roses, lavender and herbs and the chirping of little birds and wild deer just an hours walk away! I ventured into the High street where all the local shops are, Tescos and Waitrose, then walked down the poshy Sheen Lane to Richmond Gardens, beautiful open space, where I was fortunate enough to see the Queen's wild deer.

Well jet lag finally kicked in around 2 o'clock and I slept for four hours, Bec and Mike came home from work, we had a yummy dinner and Bec made pavlova covered in the most amazing berries. The sun didn't go down until 9.30 at night and wasn't truly dark till after 10.30, which is a bit of a spin out!

Hope everyone back home is well and will let you know how my city adventures turn out soon. xxx

The cute deer at Richmond Gardens.

Apparently a very old post box, from King George era.

Masses of roses on Sheen Lane.

26 Days to go!

Can't believe there's only three weeks and a couple of days until I fly to London, my very first overseas trip. Firstly I get to stay with my cousin Bec and her partner Mike for a week and a bit, then it's a crazy three and a half weeks on Contiki through Europe. When I come back I'm staying in a hostel for two weeks in Willesden Green with a mission of finding somewhere to live and a job. The rest is unknown and I can't wait for my adventure to start. :)
